Stingray coloring page

Are you wondering why stingrays have such a strange flat shape? It’s because it’s the stingrays’ flat body that allows them to dig out and hide from predators on the sandy ocean floor! The stingrays’ main predators are sharks, other large fish, seals, and sea lions. And most stingray species also have one or more barbed venomous stings on their tails, which are only used for self-defense.

The eyes of stingrays are on the upper part of the body, and the mouth, gills and nostrils are on the lower part. Because of this, stingrays cannot see their prey; instead, they use their sense of smell and electrical receptors to find food. Stingrays mainly feed on mollusks, crustaceans such as crabs, clams, oysters, sea snails and small fish.

In the wild, a stingray can live an average of 15 to 25 years! Did you know these interesting facts about stingrays?
