Simple Buttercream Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

Makes 3 cups

  • 1 cup buffer or soft margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups sifted confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Cream the butter with an electric mixer. Add the vanilla and mix well. Sift sugar into the bowl, one cup at a time, while beating on medium speed. Scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl often.

2. When all the sugar has been added, the icing will appear dry. Add the milk and beat on medium speed until light and fluffy.

3. Refrigerate and store in an airtight container for up to two weeks. Re-whip before using.
