Facts about wolves for children

Wolves are the largest members of the canine family. They are usually fearful and very wary of people and, unlike the dog, have not been domesticated. Wolves hunt and travel only in packs, usually about 10 wolves. Each pack bravely guards its territory and may even kill other wolves who do not belong to their pack. Wolves forage for food at night and sleep during the day. Wolves are voracious eaters. They are carnivorous and their food consists of meat they have harvested on the hunt. This is usually moose, goats, sheep, and deer.
