What is a Crusade Knight?

During the Crusades, various religious armies were formed at the behest of the Pope and were known as Knights of the Order. The main duty of the knights was to fight. Gradually the Templars expanded their duties from protecting pilgrims to a broader defense of crusader states in the Holy Land.
